After suffering mistreatments and discriminations for ages at the hands of successive military regime, thousands of the ethnic Chin people had fled to the neighbouring countries such as India, Bangladesh Thailand and Malaysia and other countries to escape political suppression, forced labour, religious persecution and other forms of human rights violations by the Burmese soldiers. Even now, sadly the Chin people are still facing internally displacement and fleeing their homes due to the civil unrest as the conflicts between the Burmese Army and ethnic armed groups constantly continue in Chin State.
Their ethnicity and Christian faith have made them targets of oppression. Since the 2021 military coup in Myanmar, the number of Chin refugees in India has risen steadily. Currently, approximately 80,000 Chin refugees reside in Mizoram State and New Delhi, India. While the Indian government and Mizoram-based NGOs have provided essential humanitarian aid, the refugees remain in urgent need of additional support. Chin-Myanmar Community Care (CMCC) is committed to providing comprehensive assistance, including:
- Food and nutrition
- Shelter and housing
- Medical care and healthcare
- Education and vocational training
- Other essential forms of support
We strive to alleviate the suffering of Chin refugees and empower them to rebuild their lives with dignity.
