The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted elderly populations worldwide. Prolonged lockdowns and restrictions left Burmese/Chin elderly individuals struggling to regain their pre-pandemic lifestyle and social connections. To address this, Chin-Myanmar Community Care established the Chin Elderly Group, aiming to revitalize social cohesion, community participation, and healthy relationships among elderly community members. Through this initiative, funded by the Department of Families, Fairness, and Housing, we will deliver a three-year program (2022-2025) featuring various activities designed to promote cultural, social, and mental well-being. These activities include regular social gatherings.

  • Walking and sightseeing excursions
  • Relaxation sessions
  • BBQ cookouts
  • Bowling events

The Chin Elderly Group, formed in 2011, brings together Burmese/Chin seniors who support one another emotionally, culturally, and spiritually.
By participating in regular meetings and engagement activities, group members foster social connections, mutual support, and a sense of community.
